πŸ™ŒπŸ» Tristan - way to get up, good stuff!

πŸ™ŒπŸ» Colby - want to battle and keep us in the game!

πŸ™ŒπŸ» Wyatt - awesome job of blocking those balls in the dirt!

πŸ™ŒπŸ» Thomas - way to come in and throw strikes!

Pico general notes

That pitcher was a freshman and was hitting 78-80. Pretty hard this early in the season and he was pretty effortless which makes the ball get on you because you don't expect it to be that hard.

He had a solid curveball (through a dirty dirty toDanny) but did not have control.

He did not ONCE attempt a pick off move.

We need to try to get that out of him. Early in the game - from the stretch - he was S L O W t home plate. He did start slide-stepping in the latter innings. Their catcher has a hose.

to work on

Body Language + Five-Second Rule

down 100, up 100. Keep the same body language. The next play is coming to you, you'll have a chance - regardless of score - to make a great play.

"act as if" - there's a scene from a iconic movie I'd need a permission slip from your parents to share, but it's true

Body Language + short memory + Act as If

  • Make an error - erase it - next play is a gem

  • walk a guy - erase it - get the next one

  • Strike out - erase it - next ab

Mentally - if you feel defeated, that is internal. We can "act as if" and bring you out of that by confident body language. We can discuss this in practice.

Having a crappy day (not just on the field, but in general)?

Smile it out of you. I swear, even if something bad is going on, if you smile it triggers your brain to help get you into a better place - same is with body language on the field.

Things we'd need to work on

  • hitting faster pitching off the machine

  • hitting curveballs off the machine

  • two-strike hitting approach

  • catching fly balls with two hands

  • BUNT defense + knowing where you are going

  • pick offs to 2nd base

    • both from the pitcher’s move (see below)

    • and the activity from the middle infielders

Types of Pickoffs to 2nd base
